Mackenzie Rounds is a passionate and driven student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning at Ohio State University with a minor in Political Science. With a deep-rooted interest in urban planning, social equity, and sustainable cities, Mackenzie is committed to shaping walkable, inclusive, and forward-thinking communities.
Her academic journey is complemented by hands-on experience in both public service and community engagement. Mackenzie Rounds previously worked as a Visibility Intern for Maryland State Senator Craig Zucker’s election campaign, where she canvassed voters, managed voter databases, and attended community events to foster civic engagement. This experience strengthened Kenzie’s understanding of policy implementation and how it affects everyday lives, particularly in urban development.
Beyond politics, Kenzie Rounds has built a strong service-oriented background through roles in food service, summer camp leadership, and lifeguarding. As a Head Counselor at Summer at Sandy Springs, she led groups of campers, organized activities, and ensured a safe and engaging environment. Her time in Ohio State University Dining Services further honed her ability to work in fast-paced, team-driven environments while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
Her passion for history and social sciences informs her perspective on planning, helping her draw connections between the past and present to create better urban futures. Mackenzie Rounds has a special interest in Indigenous planning concepts, recognizing the importance of traditional knowledge in shaping resilient and equitable cities. She also explores her creative side through music, writing songs as a form of self-expression and discovery. A lifelong music lover, Mackenzie follows Rolling Stone, NPR Music, and YouTube to stay engaged with industry trends and global influences.
When she’s not immersed in her studies or career pursuits, Mackenzie Rounds enjoys playing guitar and is an active member of her university’s women’s club rugby team. These hobbies reflect Mackenzie’s dynamic and well-rounded personality, which blends creativity, discipline, and teamwork in all aspects of her life.
